Investor portals are a standing target for impersonation, and a fund’s reporting is worth reading carefully before it is trusted. The habits below are worth keeping.
- Credentials
- The firm will never ask for your portal password by email or by telephone.
- The address bar
- Reach the portal from this page rather than from a link in an unexpected message, and check the address in your browser before entering credentials.
- Anything irregular
- A message or a sign-in page that looks wrong should be reported to investor relations before it is acted on.
- Confidentiality
- Materials furnished through the portal are provided to the limited partner to whom they relate and are not for redistribution.
